Bon Voyage!

Holy Macaroni! The time has finally come we are leaving for Mexico!!!
My Mother-In-Law & Father-In-Law had decided in late summer of /11 that they would be taking EVERYONE to Mexico! So my Husband, 4 children, Brother & Sister-In-Law, their 3 kiddies, Mother-In-Law & Father-In-Law will all be boarding a plane heading to Mexico! When they told us this last year, We honestly felt as though We had just won a game show prize! I am excited & nervous at the same time, I mean I have NEVER traveled with SEVEN Children before! But there are SIX Adults so I am optimistic that everything will go smoothly, if Kate plus 8 can do it with her entire dysfunctional entourage then I am confident that we have what it takes to make it there and back in one piece! Our children have been so excited, William in a cute fit of fury tried to take a picture off the wall in his bedroom to pack in his suitcase.
Clearly I won't be blogging for a while, but when I get back I will be posting some pretty incredible pics & I will have plenty to say about our travels.
Bon Voyage Everyone!
Forgive me for all of the !!!'s But can you blame me???!!! We'll see you soon! xo
PS. Thank-you God for generous hearts! May we all come home healthy & well.
PPS. We are SO blessed to have such wonderful In-Law's (they're great with or without the trip of course!) A BIG Thank-you to my In-Law's for such an AMAZING opportunity!!!

Dinner Time Blues...

Do you suffer from dinner time blues???
I have suffered from dinner time blues & it really sucks! You know the evenings when you just can't seem to get dinner on the table because EVERYONE is whining and complaining & you feel like taking all of the "parenting magazines" you've read & lighting them on fire! I've been there & still get there from time to time. But I'm all about finding a strategy that works until it doesn't work anymore & then finding a new one that works until that one doesn't work anymore & so on, & so on. Okay so this idea is NOT original AT ALL! but I'm bringing it back BABY!...
until it doesn't work anymore.
Step: 1 Occupy said 3 year old
(Stick a fancy hand made apron on Her, made  here)
& tell her she has to do her "Chores"

Step: 2 Ask for help (with a bribe of dessert)
Step: 3 (break up fight about who picks dessert!) & ask for more help
Step: 4 (quickly break up another fight about not getting to pick dessert or help with dinner) & tell him he can have a bath!
Okay so it worked this passed week, please pray for me!
Give it a try & tell me how it goes, or PLEASE share with me some original ideas!
I will keep you posted with my next dinner time strategy until this one fails us.
(Darn you dinner time blues!) We will find a way to overcome you once & for all!!!

PS. Thank-you God for patience...
Although with dinner time blues it really does have a short fuse from time to time as you have witnessed!
PPS. Thank-you for forgiveness!

SO Inspirational!

This just blew me away! My Mother-In-Law shared this video with us & I think it's so profound, everyone should watch this. We watched this together as a family, it is so inspiring.
For those of you who may not know: the name Emmanuel means "God is with us"
I encourage you to share this with others in your life. It shows me just how the Human Spirit can triumph & overcome anything!
A BIG thank-you to Emmanuel & his Family, this is AMAZING!

2Co 12:9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2Co 12:10  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities (weaknesses), in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake:for when I am weak, then am I strong.

PS. Thank-you God you AMAZE & ASTOUND me at every turn!

"Making Guys"

Step: 1
Step: 2
Step: 3

William will sit for hours making "guys" (okay hours is NOT realistic) perhaps more like an hour? Anyhow this has been the latest craze in our home. This creation was actually made at my Brother's place, it's such a craze that my purse is now fashioned for toting "guy" making materials. "Mommy did you bring my scissors???"
Yes & I didn't forget your day timer or your wallet either! (I love the "rough copy" under the one he's working on in step: 1) his ears were "too big" to make the final cut. I just had to share this sweetness with everyone, it really delights me to see somebody in this family taking an interest in being creative. Ask anybody when I was pregnant with my first my vision of parenting included crafts of every sort & then I had 3 boys. My dreams for crafting with boys came to an abrupt ending & I quickly switched gears & learned how to smash, crash & bash things. However William has a keen interest for creativity & because of his interest all of my boys are becoming more crafty (in more ways than 1). My heart sings a happy tune when my little ones have busy little hands, that are busy in a good way!

PS. Thank-you Dear Lord...you really do answer prayers!!!

Secret Prayers...

I often think to myself...
What will they remember? Will it be good enough? Am I sharing enough of who I am with them? Is that even possible in the span of a busy day? Do I give you enough love, time, affection, values, honesty, discipline??? Who will you become? Will you value and respect your life & others? Will you live with integrity?...These are my secret prayers. Can they ever truly know the depth of my love??? How does one convey that to the fullest? Am I good enough for them? I try parenting with the best intentions but are my "best intentions" going to be good enough for the long haul? I mean there's so much to contend with in this world, we are constantly bombarded by so much that just isn't "good" and "true". They are growing up in a world full of "ego". "The strong shall survive" Who are the "strong"?, the version of "strong" in the world we live in is so skewed from the one I know to be true. The humble & meek are viewed as being "weak", when I know for a FACT that it is SO hard to be humble, it takes great strength in the world we live in to remain humble. My secret prayers are that my children aren't poisoned by the lies and deception of this world, that they won't be lured into the belief that money & power is what makes somebody successful. I want them to have experiences that build character, strengthens them & makes them see the truth of this world & why we are here. We are here for one purpose & one purpose only & I know from the depths of my soul that it's the only thing that I actually know & that is we are here for nothing more than L.O.V.E ~ That's it, that's all there is. Nothing more, there is NOTHING that matters more here on this earth than LOVE. I pray that their hearts find this truth and cling to it for eternity.

Whereas the object and purpose of our instruction and charge is love, which springs from a pure heart and a good (clear) conscience and sincere (unfeigned) faith.
1 Timothy 1: 5

And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance. Ephesians 5: 2

[Let your] love be sincere (a real thing); hate what is evil [loathe all ungodliness, turn in horror from wickedness], but hold fast to that which is good. Romans 12: 9

Love one another with brotherly affection [as members of one family], giving precedence and showing honor to one another.
Romans 12: 10

Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity). 1 John 3: 18

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being and with all your might.
Deuteronomy 6: 5

Know, recognize, and understand therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps covenant and steadfast love and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations. Deuteronomy 7: 9

How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of men take refuge and put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
Psalm 36: 7

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness--trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never]. Psalm 91: 14

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him]. 1 John 4: 7

He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. 1 John 4: 8

Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us. Romans 5: 5

But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us. Romans 5: 8

Love does no wrong to one's neighbor [it never hurts anybody]. Therefore love meets all the requirements and is the fulfilling of the Law.
Romans 13: 10

For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown for His name's sake in ministering to the needs of the saints (His own consecrated people), as you still do.
Hebrews 6: 10

Let love for your fellow believers continue and be a fixed practice with you [never let it fail].
Hebrews 13: 1

But if one loves God truly [with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience, and grateful recognition of His blessing], he is known by God [recognized as worthy of His intimacy and love, and he is owned by Him].
1 Corinthians 8: 3

But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces (the higher gifts and the choicest graces). And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one that is better by far and the highest of them all--love]. 1 Corinthians 12: 31

For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.
Proverbs 3: 12

I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and diligently shall find me. Proverbs 8: 17

But God--so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us. Ephesians 2: 4

I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another.
John 13: 34

By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves].
John 13: 35

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love [for love waved as a protecting and comforting banner over my head when I was near him].
Song of Solomon 2: 4

And I will sow her for Myself anew in the land, and I will have love, pity, and mercy for her who had not obtained love, pity, and mercy; and I will say to those who were not My people, You are My people, and they shall say, You are my God! Hosea 2: 23

And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight [that your love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment]. Philippians 1: 9

Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]. 1 Peter 4: 8

Show respect for all men [treat them honorably]. Love the brotherhood (the Christian fraternity of which Christ is the Head). Reverence God. Honor the emperor.
1 Peter 2: 17

Who shall ever separate us from Christ's love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation? Or calamity and distress? Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword? Romans 8: 35

For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8: 38-39

May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love. Ephesians 3: 17

[That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]! Ephesians 3: 19

And may the Lord make you to increase and excel and overflow in love for one another and for all people, just as we also do for you.
1 Thessalonians 3: 12

And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony]. Colossians 3: 14

As a father loves and pities his children, so the Lord loves and pities those who fear Him [with reverence, worship, and awe].
Psalm 103: 13

And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you but [reverently] to fear the Lord your God, [that is] to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being. Deuteronomy 10: 12

But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5: 44

If you [merely] love those who love you, what quality of credit and thanks is that to you? For even the [very] sinners love their lovers (those who love them). Luke 6: 32

Therefore I tell you, her sins, many [as they are], are forgiven her--because she has loved much. But he who is forgiven little loves little. Luke 7: 47

I have loved you, [just] as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love [continue in His love with Me]. John 15: 9

No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends. John 15: 13

Let everything you do be done in love (true love to God and man as inspired by God's love for us).
1 Corinthians 16: 14

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.
Ephesians 5: 25

Even so husbands should love their wives as [being in a sense] their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
Ephesians 5: 28

Hatred stirs up contentions, but love covers all transgressions.
 Proverbs 10: 12

May the Lord direct your hearts into [realizing and showing] the love of God and into the steadfastness and patience of Christ and in waiting for His return.
2 Thessalonians 3: 5

Beloved, if God loved us so [very much], we also ought to love one another.
 1 John 4: 11

Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned or in order that I may glory, but have not love (God's love in me), I gain nothing.
1 Corinthians 13: 3

Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
1 Corinthians 13: 4

It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
1 Corinthians 13: 5

It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
1 Corinthians 13: 6

Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
1 Corinthians 13: 7

Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth]. 1 Corinthians 13: 8

And so faith, hope, love abide [faith--conviction and belief respecting man's relation to God and divine things; hope--joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love--true affection for God and man, growing out of God's love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love.
 1 Corinthians 13: 13

PS. Thank-you God I never will forget for one single moment just how precious they are to me. Thank-you SO much for sharing the "purpose" of life with me.
PPS. Thank-you for trusting me enough to care for them, I pray they become who you intended for them to be. I know that if they let you in EVERYTHING will be as it should...
I pray they do.

A Teachers Heart

Psalm 78:1-7
O My People, listen to my teaching. Open your ears to what I am saying. For I will show you lessons from our history, stories handed down to us from former generations. I will reveal these truths to you so that you can describe these glorious deeds of Jehovah to your children, and tell them about the mighty miracles he did. For he gave these laws to Israel, and commanded our fathers to teach them to their children, so that they in turn could teach their children too. Thus his laws pass down from generation to generation. In this way each generation has been able to obey his laws and to set its hope anew on God and not forget his glorious miracles.
He sat with her for 40 minutes teaching her. Numbers & letters of the alphabet, he made it fun & he praised her every time she did something right. He clapped his hands & praised her. He traced her little hands & one by one they counted every little finger. This right here is exactly what makes parenting so worth all we invest into our little ones. At night before bed we discussed his Teachers heart & I praised him for having such a talent & gift for teaching. We thanked God for his special gift of Teaching. I am so grateful for these moments. What a blessing it is to be apart of these precious little lives.

Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.
Psalms 90:12

PS. Thank-you God for his Teachers Heart.

Family Day!

Thank-you Family Day! You were wonderful & we thoroughly enjoyed you!
I am reminded on this Family Day of how thankful I am to have a Mother-in-Law who has been such an inspiration to me, my Husband & our children during a very difficult time in her life. She has relentlessly been battling breast cancer with such grace & positivity, she has shown us that there is NOTHING that we can't do when we have faith in God & for that I am forever grateful. Today God reminds me that we CAN choose our families! God puts people on our path, we decide who stays on our path. We visited with old Friends who we haven't seen in quite some time. It was so nice to catch up & let our kiddies play. I am so thankful for all of the healthy friendships that I have. I am thankful that my children will grow up witnessing healthy relationships, so that they too will surround themselves with people who inspire them to be the best that they can be.  Thank-you Family Day & Thank-you to all of my wonderful friends, you really are like family to me! And last but certainly not least; a very BIG Thank-you to my incredible, ADORABLE children for playing so sweetly together all weekend long & on this very special Family Day.

PS. Thank-you God for family & friends.

The Pot & The Potter

So...
I want to go out on a limb & share my heart with you. Who am I?...
I try very hard to be who I think I should be, nice, kind, gentle, patient, accepting, a good listener, selfless, humble...The truth is I feel at times that that's not the real me, that's the pretend nice me. The real me is loud, demanding, impatient, talkative, outspoken & is constantly battling the "nice me". I guess my question is, is it possible to be all of those things & still be considered "good"?. What renders somebody as being "good"?.  My best guess is that it's okay to be all of it, God is sculpting me in his image. Why be so critical of others when we have our own struggles to deal with? Why on earth would I ever expect perfection from somebody else when I am nowhere close to perfect? I need to stop measuring myself next to somebody who ideally I would love to be and just be me. I'm NOT perfect, I can stop pretending. Exhale, it's okay Tanya just breathe & be who you are. My inner spirit becomes stronger every day. I don't have to live up to anybody Else's standards of who I should be and just trust that the work that is being done inside of my heart is measuring up to who God wants me to be. Ultimately my Maker's opinion of who I am is THE only thing that matters. I am a work of art that is undergoing a slow & sometimes painful transformation, but I know that I am being sculpted into something beautiful. So for those of us who struggle with our self worth, values, self esteem, let's all cut ourselves some slack. Let's be kind to ourselves and love ourselves enough to know that it is perfectly okay to not be perfect, let's allow ourselves to be shaped and molded into something beautiful from the inside.

~ But now, O Lord, Thou art our Father; We are the Clay, and Thou our Potter; and we all are the work of Thy Hand ~ Isaiah 64:8

PS. Thank-you God for the good work you have begun, I am shaping into the Girl you had planned from the start.

Kid Bits...

Moments with Mr. Sunshine:
Sonny: Mommy! Tyson hit me!
Me: On purpose or by accident?
Sonny: On purpose!
Me: Tyson did you hit Sonny on purpose!?
Tyson: NO I didn't hit Sonny!
Me: Sonny are you sure he hit you on purpose???
Sonny: Well maybe he didn't hit me on purpose cause sometimes I don't see so good out of my deaf eye.
Moments in Will's World:
Me: William you are NOT getting down from the table until you have eaten your vegetables.
Willy-Jay: Okay Mommy.
5 Minutes later...
Me: William I really mean it! you will not get down from this table until ALL of your veggies are eaten!
(A very calm) Willy-Jay: Okay Mommy.
5 Minutes later...
Me: YOU HAVE NOT EATEN ANY VEGGIES! William do you understand Mommy?, you will NOT LEAVE THIS TABLE UNTIL YOU HAVE EATEN ALL OF THE VEGETABLES!
Willy-Jay (still ever so calm): Okay Mommy.
5 Minutes later (& Will is now playing "guys" with his veggies)...
Me: Will you have not eaten a single vegetable! I really mean it this time you're not getting down until they're all gone!
Willy-Jay: Yes Mommy.
5 Minutes later, the kitchen is immaculate & it's time to get ready for bed...
Me: William you haven't eaten any veggies & now it is time to go upstairs & get ready for bed.
Willy-Jay: Okay Mommy.
How can you argue with someone who refuses to argue???
 Moments with Dudley:
Saying prayers one night (this blew me away!)
"God thank-you for our family we are very blessed to have the ones we love. Please help me to not want what other people have. Please help me to be thankful for what I have. Please protect us, keep us safe & healthy ~ In Jesus name ~ Amen"

Sonny: What does Heaven look like?
Tyson: At first I thought it would be like darkness, but now I think it will be beautiful and warm like the sun.

"Ryan is a bully at our school & I know that it's wrong to hurt people, but if Ryan EVER hurt Jackie would it be okay to beat him up?"

Tyson gently placing Miss JaCoco on his lap to read her a story:
"Come here Ty' Ty's precious Little Girl"
Moments with Miss JaCoco:
You are Charming & funny a mini comical genius in the making! You are always doing something to make us laugh. You are the Queen of facial expressions & already at the age of 3 you are capable of mimicking & poking fun of the funny! There is NEVER a dull moment in Jackie's World!

We are forever chasing after her to keep her clothes on. At any given point in the day if you were to stop by and pay us a visit she would be naked or just in underwear & for some strange reason all of her dolls are naked too???...Perhaps too many "Little Bear" episodes? or just a free spirit? Whatever the case may be you keep us on our toes!

"PUMP IT! LOUDER!"...(Black Eyed Peas) Jackie's Favorite Song!

PS. Thank-you God What gifts you have bestowed...I'm not worthy! I guess that's why it's called "Grace"
PPS. Thank-you for your Grace.

Happy Valentimes!

We have been working on "Valentimes day" for a couple of weeks now. It began with card making...
Followed by...
Buying cards from the store, my 8 year old Son reminded me ever so politely that he would be handing the cards out to "a lot of boys so maybe they would like boys cards better?"

I have been ranting about not wanting to wear my 8 year old's mittens to work anymore & I quote "I am tired of wearing my 8 year old's mittens to work! I see ladies who have matching scarves & hats & gloves & they look so put together! who wears their 8 year old boy's mittens???"
I no longer wear my 8 year old boys mittens to work! WOW my Husband actually listened & did something about 1 of my many rants! Isn't that just the most romantic thing ever!!! Thank-you Nizzy! xo

All in all it's been a lovefestival here in the Brown home! Everyday is a fantastic day to celebrate L.O.V.E
We just love having a good excuse to eat chocolate & goodies!
Happy "Valentimes" Day!
Love: The Brown Bunch! xo

PS. Dear Friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because GOD IS LOVE.

Prayers, Moments, Memories.

There are moments in our lives when we are rocked beyond measure. My heart felt prayers are for my little Mother Hen this week & forever more. A tragedy has struck my little Mother Hen, her Father has taken his life & she will forever be left with this tragic stain. She will desperately be grasping to hold on to the good memories she has of her Father. My heart bleeds for this young lady. Dear God hear my prayer, please may she feel your love engulf her inner being. Please may she feel your weightless arms of peace wrap around her broken heart. Please God hold her in your warmth. Carry her God. My young Mother Hen shouldn't have to bare this burden God! I'm angry that her life is altered forever! The woman that she is to become will forever be stained by this very horrifying memory. I feel helpless & useless. Prayers, please, anybody who reads this, please pray for my little Mother Hen. God heal her broken heart. I pray for her, her Mother, her siblings & her family. God speed your love to them.

PS. God hear my prayer.

Love is Patient,

So the verdict is out & my very favorite scripture to date is...

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love NEVER fails!
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

This is a verse that I have repeated over & over in my mind several times a day. When things shake up a little bit as they tend to do in our daily lives I hold on to this word of truth very tightly. When my boat springs a leak because someone has rocked it, I have said this scripture until I feel a sense of peace wash over me. It works every time, IT NEVER FAILS!
I don't know about you, but it seams that I am a loveable sweetie pie until someone gives me the stink eye & then WHAM suddenly I have this overwhelming urge to step into a parking lot & smack that person out (okay not literally!). What I am trying to express is that there have been so many situations that would arise in my life where my insides would get shaken to some degree & I would walk away feeling unsettled. The great news is that these feelings are subsiding within me & are slowly disappearing from my spirit man. I have come to learn that it is very easy to be kind & loving when we are being treated well by others. It is very difficult to be kind & loving toward somebody who is not treating us well. Repeating this good word of truth has strengthened and encouraged me to be more patient, tolerant, excepting, loving & kind toward others. I have repeated that scripture so much so, that when I am faced with challenging situations I can stand the test of love. I no longer have to repeat that scripture in my mind because it is forever printed on my heart & it has brought great peace into my life. I hope that this would inspire & encourage you to find yourselves a good word of truth to focus on, so that when life happens it won't overtake you, you will overtake it with powerful words to bring you comfort & peace.

PS. Thank-you God for the fruits of your spirit.
